Talk about naivety and been slightly green

An email from a good friend on the swing site...

Talk about naivety and been slightly green lol, listen to this....

I get several messages sent to me and normally I tend to ignore them, 99% of them doing nothing for me but if their profile catches my eye I will at least have the curtisy of giving them a reply as long as they are not to forward or crude when they first contact me!

Got this couple who seem really nice ask how I am and am I having a good time blah blah, when the conversation turned to "what you in to!" being quite boring I said the usual, they said do you like "Scat?"

I said I don't mind a little jazz or swing but I am more the middle of the road kind of man when it comes to music!

They then said so you like Scat I said I think I heard of it but don't have any CDs or the likes lol!

I decided to look it up, to see what type of music it was, OH MY GOD, I will never reply to them again lol, the dirty bastards!

I asked him if i could ridicule him in public (I mean use it for a post) His reply....

Yeah course you can lol shows that I need to learn I thought dogging was a social meeting at Sunderland greyhound track for a night out lol and that the truth lol

In his defence....wikipedia says...In vocal jazz, scat singing is vocal improvisation with wordless vocables, nonsense syllables or without words at all. Scat singing gives singers the ability to sing improvised melodies and rhythms, to create the equivalent of an instrumental solo using their voice.

But did any of you have any doubt what it meant???

  1. I've often wondered why that fun and cool style of jazz singing had to share a word with, um, that other thing. At least it made for a funny moment and blog post.

  2. As strange as this may sound but I never knew what that meant until about a year ago. Someone I met online is very into that (not me though) and I looked at a few things but it is something I could NEVER do.

Now as far as the jazz reference that is the part I never knew about.

  3. Cleveland Steamer is another reference thereof.... I don't care for it myself at all. Scat singing I do like. Ella Fitzgerald was an awesome Scat singer...

  4. Knew right away what scat is. Had a friend who liked the sound of that word and used it as his screenname. He didn't know what to make of all the attention he got from ladies who kept trying to get to know him better. He told me about this and I told him what scat really means. He promptly changed his screenname. ;)

  5. If I were reading a jazz blog/site or an Ethology blog/site, then I would have thought of "scat" very differently. However on any site to do with kink and/or sex, yeah - I knew what scat they meant! Your poor friend, he's definitely getting an education.

I laughed till I peed a little at his thought of "dogging"!
